Color is one of the most vital elements in home design. It is deeply personal and can make or break how you feel about the design of your space.
Color is significantly underrated when people think about the design and aesthetic of their home. That said, the endless number of color choices can be extremely overwhelming – over 15,000 options (YIKES!). Most paint companies will ask you to pick a color before they start. Some might give recommendations of finishes – i.e., matte, gloss, semi-gloss, etc., but look to you to know exactly what color you want – assuming you’ll know what will pair best with your furnishings, finishes, and style.
As an added service, Catchlight Painting can provide clients with an opportunity to connect with a professional colorist, ensuring your color choices align perfectly with your design vision. A color consultant helps select colors, using color theory and trends to create choices that best align with your home.
The process from our colorist is twofold, depending on if you’re looking for interior or exterior color advice. However, the first step for both is the same – a comprehensive questionnaire to thoroughly understand your design goals. For most people, this helps narrow down the endless amount of color choices to a few key palettes.
From there, for interior projects, color selections are made on-site, and clients receive a detailed follow-up summary, including samples and sources for all recommended colors.
For exterior projects, an initial meeting is held to discuss and photograph the property. A follow-up meeting is then scheduled to present a curated selection of color palettes tailored to the client’s preferences.
This is an incredibly personal and thought-provoking service, and we are fortunate to be able to connect the services of our color expert directly to our clients. Each client is different, each home is different, and every room in your home is different – from lighting to furniture layout to accessories and hardware. Our ultimate goal is to make sure that you are 100% happy with your color choices, and when all is said and done, the colors you choose for your home evoke emotion and properly reflect your home’s personality.
